Dare County releases video on Hatteras Island fiber outage information

Share post:

Dare County has released a new video that is designed to inform residents, visitors and property owners about the single fiber optic cable that provides phone and internet service to Hatteras Island, various situations that can result in the cable being damaged and ultimately disrupting communications to the island, as well as what steps individuals should take to be prepared during such outages before they occur.

The video also provides detailed information regarding the locations of Dare County EMS facilities and volunteer fire and rescue departments throughout Hatteras Island and encourages individuals to familiarize themselves with these locations in advance by visiting DareNC.gov/GetHelp in case they require emergency or medical assistance during an outage.
