National AT&T outage affecting Outer Banks customers

Share post:

A national AT&T network outage is impacting local customers on the Outer Banks, per multiple reports.

Other carriers, including Verizon, U.S. Cellular, T-Mobile, Boost Mobile, and others, have also had sporadic reports of outages nationwide, according to DownDetector.

Service for North Carolina AT&T customers went down at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. iPhone users will still be able to make emergency calls if “SOS” or “SOS only” is displayed in the status bar.

At this time, the cause of the outage is unknown, and there is not an estimated timeframe for the restoration of service for AT&T customers.

The Island Free Press will post updates as soon as they become available.
