The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association (NCBBA) recently made a $1,500 donation to the Hatteras Island Baseball League (HIBL), a youth-focused organization that offers baseball coaching and the opportunity to play to 130 local boys and girls from Rodanthe to Hatteras Village.

The season goes from mid-March until the end of the school year, and the HIBL develops baseball talent and acts as a feeder program for the Cape Hatteras Middle School and High School baseball and softball teams.

Games are played at Burrus Field in Buxton, with the Fessenden Center field used for practice, and the program combines with teams from Ocracoke as well. The NCBBA donation will go towards baseball equipment, uniforms, umpire fees, and field maintenance for the upcoming 2025 season.

The NCBBA is a non-profit organization established in 1964  that is dedicated to the preservation of, and vehicular access to, the natural beach resources of the Outer Banks through conservation, a code of ethics for beach behavior, and by supporting local, state, federal officials, and other organizations dedicated to these same goals.

The NCBBA also regularly donates and contributes to organizations that serve the Hatteras Island community.
