With the return of some Dare County students to in-classroom learning on Monday, Oct. 26, the Dare County Schools sent out this notice to families as they prepare to send their children back into a different classroom learning environment.
1. Please review our school bell schedules: https://www.daretolearn.org/ about/covid-19-information
2. Our Returning to School/Work Safely Guide can be found here: Return to School/Work Safely Guide
3. North Carolina Public Schools cannot operate school water fountains, so these will be shut down when your students arrive to school on Monday. I would strongly encourage you to send a water bottle to school on a daily basis with your children. We do have several schools with water bottle filling stations, these are accessible. We do have a limited supply of extra plastic water bottles at each school.
4. Our required daily health screening text/email process will begin on Monday morning beginning at 6:00 am. Please respond to these 3 required questions on a daily basis by 7:15 am (before students are on campus). To fill out a preference request, you will need to login to your PowerSchool Parent Portal. This document and this video walkthrough will demonstrate how to get to your child’s forms.
If you have not registered for the health screener process, the primary email address in PowerSchool is being used for the default delivery of the screening survey.
5. Please remind your student(s) to keep their masks before they board a school bus and when they get to a DCS campus. Outside mask breaks will be provided at different points in the day and while they eat breakfast and lunch.
6. Please remind your students to wash their hands and/or use hand sanitizer during the day. Teachers will remind students frequently.
7. Social distancing is required and will be emphasized throughout the day. Students will be reminded to stay on the right and left sides of school hallways, 6 feet apart.
We are very much looking forward to seeing your children back in our schools on Monday. The first couple of weeks will certainly be a transition period in many ways, we appreciate everyone’s patience, flexibility, and collaboration. Please feel free to reach out to your teachers, school principal, or members of our senior leadership team with any questions you may have.
