CHEC Announces Winners of Annual Hatteras Island Photo Contest
The Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative (CHEC) recently revealed the 12 winning photos of their seventh annual photo contest, which will be featured in the free-to-members and upcoming 2022 CHEC calendar.
The contest, which runs from October through February every year, judges photos of Hatteras Island which are submitted by CHEC members, and Laura Ertle, Director of Public Relations and Marketing for CHEC, says that this past year’s contest was especially difficult.
“We have a group of five judges, who are all employees at the office, and who usually change from year to year, because the contest is fun for us too,” she says. “This year, we had over 75 great entries, so we had a very difficult choice.”
The judges print out the photos, spread them on a table, and take their time identifying their favorites. “The winners have all looked really different over the last few years, so that’s pretty cool,” says Ertle.
The top three winners receive a credit from CHEC, while an additional nine winners are selected so that they can be highlighted in the annual calendar. “The calendar always comes out great, because the pictures people send are amazing,” says Ertle.
The 2022 calendar with this year’s winners is in the works, and the calendar will be available at the CHEC lobby at the main office in Buxton, and will be free for all members.
This year’s winners are showcased below, and folks can also view all of the winning photos at the CHEC website or via the organization’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CapeHatterasElectricCoop.
