An end-of-summer party and community fundraiser to raise money for the local Hatteras Island Rescue Squad (HIRS) will be held on Thursday, August 15, at the Koru Beach Klub in Avon Village at 7:00 p.m.
The “To the Rescue” concert will feature 1980s dance band Raygun Ruby, and all proceeds from ticket sales will help the HIRS raise funds for a new Utility Task Vehicle (UTV).
The all-volunteer Hatteras Island Rescue Squad patrols the southern Hatteras Island beaches during the summer months, and responds to area emergencies whenever needed. HIRS also performs a number of community service initiatives throughout the year, such as hosting regular CPR classes for the public.
The “To the Rescue” concert will also feature a raffle with amazing prizes, and other fundraising initiatives to help keep this essential local organization going strong.
