Thanksgiving is just two days away, and there are a number of local businesses that will be open for both famished islanders who want to completely avoid the kitchen, and last-minute chefs who missed a few key ingredients despite multiple shopping trips.
From grocery stores for last-minute supplies, to restaurants that will be serving up full Thanksgiving feasts, (with absolutely no cooking or clean-up required), here is a round-up of what’s open on Hatteras Island on Turkey Day.
Keep in mind that in addition to these spots that will be open on Thanksgiving, there are plenty of stores, restaurants, and gift shops that might be closed on Thursday, but will be open all Thanksgiving weekend long for some relaxed, Island-style Black Friday shopping.

Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet
1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Café Pamlico is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Buffet with the traditional turkey, as well as a selection of meat and seafood main dishes, lots of sides, and multiple desserts. Seating is available at 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and reservations are highly recommended. Thanksgiving Friendsgiving Potluck Party
2 p.m. until Midnight
Turner’s High Moon Bar & Grill is inviting everyone to come feast and celebrate with old friends and new ones at their Friendsgiving Potluck Party. Turner’s will be providing the turkeys, stuffing, gravy, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes, and everyone is invited to contribute to the potluck-style dinner, but bringing a dish is not required to join in the fun! Village Red and White, Hatteras
Open 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Thanksgiving – Village Red and White will still have turkeys, plenty of side dishes, and all sorts of last-minute cooking supplies available through Thanksgiving Day.
Frisco Rod and Gun, Frisco
Open 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving – Frisco Rod and Gun has ample groceries, beverages, and lots of Black Friday sales on all the fishing and sportsman’s equipment you’ll need for a post-Thanksgiving beach trip.
Conner’s Supermarket, Buxton
Open 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Thanksgiving – The Conner’s Supermarket deli may be closed on Turkey Day, but Conner’s still has all the last-minute supplies, groceries, and an extensive selection of beers and wines that you’ll need to finalize your big dinner.
Lee Robinson General Store, Hatteras
Open 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving – Lee Robinson features a variety of groceries, a wide selection of beer and wine, (with 10% off wines and 20% off beers), enticing homemade breads, gifts and goodies, and so much more.
Waves Market & Deli, Waves
Open 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving – Waves Market & Deli features a large and unique variety of beers, wines, groceries, and scratch-made dinner rolls which are available while they last!
Food Lion, Avon
Open 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving – Hatteras Island’s only chain grocery store is open until 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving for last-minute needs.
