GREENVILLE, N.C. — William Dorsett Ward, 57,passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, after a two-year battle againstcancer. He fought the disease with determination, dignity, andwit and with love and support of his family, close friends and, most ofall, faith in his Lord.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private.
Dorsett, named after his beloved great uncle, William Simon Moye Jr.,and grandfather, Eli Dorsett Larkins, attended Greenville publicschools and East Carolina University, where he was a loyal and faithfulmember of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
A master fisherman, he loved the outdoors and for the past 30 yearsmade his living as a commercial and charter boat fisherman while livingand working in the fishing villages of Hatteras and Gloucester, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Harvey Ward, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann Ward; brother, Jim Ward andwife, Katie; sister, Lisa Ward Hilliard; five nephews; one niece, and agreat niece.
Dorsett’s family would like to give special heartfelt thanks to hisprimary physician, Dr. Heather White, and her staff, Vidant Hospice,and everyone that through their prayers, calls, cards and visits madethis journey a little more bearable.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
