OCRACOKE– Maxine Lee Williams Mason passed away peacefully at her home on Feb.25, 2013 with her family and best friend by her side. Maxine wasborn on Aug. 8, 1935, to the late Leonard Mac Williams and the lateMary Elizabeth Gaskins. For close to 50 years she was happilymarried to the late Charles Romaine Mason Sr. Maxine graduatedfrom Ocracoke School in 1953 and worked her entire life. Sheretired from the N.C. Ferry Division in March 2003 after 30-PLUS yearsof service.
Maxine was a generous and caring woman. Shehad a wonderful, hearty laugh that was never mistaken andunforgettable. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother,great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missedby all.
Left to cherish her memories are two sons, Charles R.Mason Jr. and Rodney W. Mason and wife Rhonda; four grandchildren,Jenny, Shane, Carla and Chante Mason; great -grandson Dallas Mason;three sisters, Linda Gaskill, Judy Garrish, and the late Louise O’Nealand one brother, Lewis Tolleson.
A celebration of life will beheld at Ocracoke Assembly of God, Friday March 1, at 2 p.m. byRev. Ivey Belch. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery. Therewill be food and refreshments at the fellowship Hall of the OcracokeAssembly of God following the service. Friends may join the family atthe church Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. for a time of visitation. Weall love our “A.”
