Margaret Meekins Barnett

BUXTON– Margaret Meekins Barnett, 82, died on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at herhome. Born in Avon in 1933, she was the daughter of the late Edison H.and Cassie M. Meekins. A graduate of Norview High School in Norfolk,Va., Margaret worked for 12 years in Virginia Beach as a teacher’sassistant with special needs children. She loved God, her family, andher church family more than anything else.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Eldon Barnett; a son, StormyBarnett; and wife, Kimberly; a daughter, Kathy Barnett; three sisters,Deanie Jarrett of Ahoskie, N.C., Arlene Smith of Chesapeake, Va., andBernice McGraw of Winton, N.C., along with wonderful nieces andnephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by twosisters, Bonnie Meekins and Estelle Mizelle, and two brothers, EdMeekins and Wilford Meekins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, atLighthouse Assembly of God with Rev. Steven Danser officiating. Burialwill take place at Quidley Cemetery in Buxton. The family will receivefriends and relatives on Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. atthe church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made toLighthouse Assembly of God Building Fund, PO Box 459, Buxton, NC 27920,or the United Methodist Men Ministries c/o Hatteras Island Food Pantry,PO Box 1591, Buxton, NC 27920.
