KITTY HAWK — Barbara Elaine Becker, of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, passed away on March 29, 2024, at the age of 75. She was born on January 14, 1949, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and lived in Luxembourg for 30 years before choosing the Outer Banks as her home in 2009.
In Luxembourg, she was actively involved in the American Women’s Club, and throughout her life she found joy and meaning in tending to her home and garden, traveling all around the world, and engaging in charitable work both in Luxembourg and the Outer Banks. Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed being a member of several book clubs. She loved the outdoors, and could often be found kayaking, feeding the birds and deer in her yard, and spending time at the beach. She also cherished her role as a grandmother, aunt and great-aunt, and loved having her family visit her home in Kitty Hawk.
Barbara was a devoted mother to her daughter, Jessica Becker, and her daughter-in-law Jackie Bialostozky, as well as grandmother to her grandson Noah. She is survived by her sister, Cindy Wimer, her nieces Amy Crouse and Nathalie Wagner, her nephew Jay Wimer, and their families. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Stella Monkiewicz and Harry Haushalter, as well as her husband, Joseph Becker.
A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on the Outer Banks at a later date. She will be remembered for her kind nature, adventurousness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
