Dennis A. Doyle

Dennis A. Doyle, 78, passed in his sleep on March 6, 2024 at his home in Kill Devil Hills after a long fight with cancer. He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Margaret; his daughters, Courtney and Shannon (Alan); his grandchildren, Sean and Cailyn, and many nieces and nephews.

Denny was born in Washington DC in 1945 to the late Gene and Kathleen Doyle. He was the youngest of 3 siblings. Denny was commissioned in the US Army in 1967 and began his life long love of flying as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He flew for the US Park Police in Washington DC for over 20 years and retired as Chief Pilot of the Aviation Unit in 1997.

Denny moved to his dream home with his family in Kill Devil Hills after retirement, planning to live life at the beach. Instead, he spent his early retirement years as a bus driver for Dare County Schools, driving for both Kitty Hawk and Nags Head Elementary. He also dedicated a large part of his life to his church, Holy Redeemer By the Sea, involved with both the Mens Club, and as a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his beloved wife, with whom he barely parted to his last day.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk on March 16, 2024 at 10:30am. Please share memories and condolences with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
