BUXTON — Janet Gray Gaskins crossed the river Jordan to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by family, on July 22, 2024. A native of Hatteras Island, she was the daughter of the late Mack and Lucy Gray of Buxton, NC.
Commonly referred to as “Miss Janet,” she worked for Planters/RBC Bank for 30 years before retiring. She spent the remainder of her life nurturing family and friends, being an active member of the local church, and, of course, cooking, which she immensely enjoyed. Janet was a beautiful, loving, and devoted wife of 67 years to her late husband, Eldon Gaskins, which was an inspiration to all.
Janet is survived by three sons, Mike Gaskins and wife Marion, Steve Gaskins and wife Rachel, and David Gaskins and wife Renae; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and relatives for a viewing and visitation on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Assembly of God. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26th, with Pastor Rob Davis officiating. Private burial will take place in the Gray Family Cemetery in Buxton.
