KILL DEVIL HILLS — Katherine “Katie” Beam, age 44, of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, passed away on March 17, 2024. She was born on November 4, 1979, in Front Royal, Virginia. Katie was a
compassionate soul who dedicated her life to helping abused and neglected animals.
After earning her high school diploma from Wakefield School in The Plains, VA, Katie pursued her passion for animal welfare by completing her associate in veterinary technology at Northern Virginia Community College. As a veterinary technician, she worked tirelessly to provide care and comfort to animals in need.
In addition to her work in animal rescue, Katie was known for her culinary skills. Friends and family marveled at her ability to create gourmet meals with limited ingredients. She was also
a talented writer, currently working on a manual for animal shelters.
Katie cherished her time living by the beach and often took long walks with her beloved dog, Basil. She found peace and joy in the beauty of nature and the companionship of her furry
friends.
Katie’s laugh is unforgettable, it was so infectious that her laughing would just make everyone laugh even if they didn’t know why.
Katie’s father, John Beam, preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Josephine “Posie” Beam, and siblings John Jeffrey Beam and Jocelyn Beam.
A service to celebrate Katie’s life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middleburg Humane Foundation or any animal rescue organization of your choice in honor of Katie’s memory.
Katie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of compassion and kindness towards animals will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
