Lois M. Nelms

March 30, 1955 – February 9, 2021

KILL DEVIL HILLS — Lois Marlene Nelms, born March 30, 1955 of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina died on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at her home.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, Frank Brinkley Nelms, Sr. and Joan Harrison Nelms and her brother Frank Brinkley Nelms, Jr. She is survived by her son, Warren Lee Staples, Sr., and her grandchildren Richard Lee Dixon, Rebecca Lynn Dixon, Anthony Rogerson Staples, Warren Lee Staples, Jr., and Rose Marie Staples. She further is survived by her sister, Joni Mansfield, brother Robert E. Nelms (Diane), sister-in-law, Catherine J. Nelms, and many nieces and nephews.

Lois graduated from Radford University. She was a member of the Port Authority Police and served as a Special Agent for the Commonwealth of Virginia, ABC Board until her medical retirement as a result of injuries sustained on the job. Lois was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a long-time volunteer with the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department. Lois was a great artist, lover of the ocean, and friend to all who met her.

No funeral service is planned at this time.
