COLINGTON — Mark Franklin Wentz, 79, of Colington, NC passed away peacefully November 29, 2021, in Chesapeake, VA after a short battle with an illness. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
Born in Hampton, VA on April 21, 1942, Mark was the son of the late Mark Wentz, Sr. and Clara Stone of Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 55-years, Vivian Wentz. Also, surviving are his two sons, Charles Wentz (Kim) and Andrew Wentz (Tammie) all of Colington; brother, Steven Cochran (Barbara) of Oregon; sister, Nancy Williams of Hampton, VA; grandchildren, Jessica (Chris), Jamie (Amanda), Zach, Cody, Sara, Keven, Eli, Caroline, Tori, and Alyssa; and several great-grandchildren.
After he graduated from Hampton High School, he briefly served in the United States Air Force before making his home in Dare County and starting his new journey with his wife Vivian. He obtained many skills and started a career with NCDOT that led him to volunteer for EMS where he found his love of helping people and thus became his career as an EMT for Dare County. After retirement in 2002, Mark enjoyed working for the Dare County School System. Mark had various hobbies which included collecting movies, telling jokes, talking about cars, watching football, listening to classical music, and enjoying good food.
He will be deeply missed by his entire family and all of his friends.
