KILL DEVIL HILLS — Raymond Stanley Johnson, Jr., passed away on December 7, 2020. A Christmas Eve baby, he was born to the late Raymond S Johnson, Sr., and Vivian E Johnson in Havre de Grace, MD.
After graduating from high school in Hampton, VA, he attended the Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School for welding, then lived in several locations before finally settling down on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where he lived his life to the fullest.
Stan the Man, a Master Trim Carpenter, lived a full life. He loved surfing, golfing, boogie boarding and other water related activities. Stan was all about his friends, especially “The Fellowship”, a group of 12 guys who played poker every week. An avid reader, his house was full of books on a variety of topics.
Stan is survived by his sister, Jeanne C Wyks, his brother CDR William L Johnson, USCG (Ret.), and eight nieces and nephews.
A paddle out in remembrance of Stan and his life will be held at 3:00 pm on July 11, 2021, at the Blackman Street Access in Nags Head (1 access south of Barnes Street). A reception will follow at 2810 S Memorial Ave, Nags Head, NC 27959.
