MANTEO – Tanaya Linette “Tay” Farrow, born April 14, 1975 in Elizabeth City, NC to the late Joseph “Vernie” Vernon and Bessie Mae Austin Farrow, departed this life May 10, 2020 in Greenville, NC.
Tanaya was a 1993 graduate of Manteo High School and was loved by all her teachers and classmates all through her school years. She was a member of DECA, FBLA, the Pep Club and chorus. After graduation, she worked in various stores in the Tangier Mall. She became a CNA and worked at Britthaven Nursing Facility, a job she loved. After a couple of years, she earned a position in the After School Program at Manteo Elementary School.
After being diagnosed with epilepsy, she was disabled, but she did not let that stop her. She enjoyed life with her children and friends. Tanaya was a very outgoing person who just loved to laugh and could make anybody laugh with her.
Tanaya leaves to cherish her memory; her mother, Bessie Farrow; and second mother, Lula Tillett both of Manteo, NC. She also leaves behind, two daughters, Tyaunah “Ty” Farrow of Manteo and Jakayla “Kayla” Farrow of Greenville; one granddaughter, Liryc Rawls of Manteo; one brother, James V. Farrow of Manteo; two sisters, Rhonda Carver (Calvin) and Necy Morris (Ivan) both of Manteo; three aunts, Charleen Mathews (Lawrence) of Capron, VA, Sally Simmons (Eddie) of Manteo and Ethel Bowser also of Manteo; and one great aunt, Pensacola McClease of Manteo. In addition, she leaves six nieces, Jaquanda Farrow, Jacinda Farrow, Sekeya Carver, Mia Morris all of Manteo, Ashley Farrow of Lowestoft, England, and Jamie Storm Farrow of Arkansas; one great niece, Micera Billups of Manteo; three nephews, Tyrone Allison (Haylee) of Norwich, England, Cameron Morris of Manteo and Quentin Perryman of Manteo; three great nephews, Harvey, Hadley and Oscar all of Lowestoft, England; and a host of cousins.
Friends and family may view from 2 pm to 5 pm Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Gallop Funeral Chapel in Nags Head. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, May 15, 2020 at Haven Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Manteo. Elder T.J. Etheridge will officiate. Masks will be required and all rules for social distancing will be strictly enforced.
