Light Snow Possible Beginning Wednesday Night
There may be a little more snow in the Outer Banks’ future, per the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Newport / Morehead City.
The NWS is forecasting light snow in primarily northern and inland regions of Eastern North Carolina beginning Wednesday afternoon and ending Wednesday evening. Precipitation may begin as rain, then quickly transition to snow across Eastern N.C. from northwest to southeast through the afternoon and early evening.
North of Oregon Inlet, a trace of snow is possible, however snow totals for the Eastern North Carolina area may change in the next two days.
There will be very little threat of freezing rain as temperatures ahead of the precipitation should be above freezing. Areas that receive the snow will likely have some treacherous roads into Thursday morning, as temperatures will be in the low to mid 20s late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
