Foreman asks for recount in Board of Education race

Share post:

Board of Education candidate Brandy Foreman has requested a recount of the vote in the race for the at-large seat on the board, which she very narrowly lost to David Twiddy in the March 15 primary election.

The non-partisan Board of Education races are final in the primary election.

The Dare County Board of Elections met yesterday to canvass the results of last Tuesday’s election.

In the final vote for the at-large board seat, Twiddy defeated Foreman by 51 votes.  The official numbers were 4,488 votes for Twiddy and 4,437 votes for Foreman.

Candidates can ask for a recount if the margin of their loss is less than 1 percent of the vote.

Both Twiddy and Foreman live in Manteo.  She is a former teacher in the Dare County schools and he is director of transportation for the county schools.

The recount is scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, at 9 a.m. in Room 168 of the Dare County Administration Building in Manteo.
