NCDOT Expands Ferry Schedule to
ccommodate Pirate Jamboree Attendees

Avast ye mateys! The N.C. Department of Transportation will be adding extra trips on its Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry flotilla to assist all buccaneers and landlubbers finding their way to the Blackbeard Pirate Jamboree on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Instead of the usual 26 trips to and from Ocracoke, the Ferry System will be making 31 round trips. The one-day schedule will be as follows:

From Hatteras: 5, 6:15, 7:20, 8:35, 9, 9:40, 10, 10:30, 10:55, and 11:20 a.m., 12, 12:20, 12:50, 1:15, 1:40, 2:20, 2:40, 3:10, 3:35, 4, 5, 5:30, 5:45, 6:20, 6:45, 7:20, 7:50, 8:15, 9:15, and 10:45 p.m., midnight.

From Ocracoke: 5, 6:10, 7:25, 8:30, 9:45, 10:10, 10:50, 11:10, and 11:40 a.m., 12:05, 12:30, 1:10, 1:30, 2, 2:25, 2:50, 3:30, 3:50, 4:20, 4:45, 5:10, 6:10, 6:40, 7, 7:30, 8, 8:30, 9, 9:30, and 10:30 p.m., midnight.

The Blackbeard Pirate Jamboree is held each fall to celebrate the area’s pirate history and heritage, including a reenactment of the Battle of Ocracoke Island that ended Blackbeard’s life on Nov. 22, 1718.
