Buxton Beach Nourishment Update – Thursday, December 21, 2017

The hopper dredge RN Weeks returned to Buxton on Tuesday morning and resumed pumping sand. Work is moving south towards the southern end of the project area and Weeks Marine has now completed about 68% of the project.

Once the southern end of the project is finished, the construction zone will move about 2,500 feet north of Buxton and work will proceed north. The project map at www.morebeachtolove.com will continue to be updated as work is completed, sections of beach are opened and new construction zones are established.

Weeks Marine reports that sea trials for the larger dredge Magdalen are progressing smoothly. If all goes as planned, the Magdalen will arrive in Buxton  by the second week of January to replace the RN Weeks.
