Beach nourishment in Buxton paused due to dredge repairs, refueling, and maintenance

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. has announced that beach nourishment operations in Buxton were temporarily paused on the evening of Monday, July 18, 2022, as the dredge Ellis Island departed Dare County to head to Norfolk, Virginia, for repairs, maintenance, and refueling.

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. has not yet provided an estimate of repair time and the dredge’s upcoming schedule.
