Dare County Schools serve 700 meals on first day of Student Meal Service
Dare County Schools (DCS) reported on Tuesday afternoon that the initial day of Student Meal Service was very successful, with a total of 700 meals served at 17 total locations throughout the county. The tally included 220 breakfasts and 280 lunches for local students.
“With the help of our transportation staff, bus drivers, and Dare County Youth Center, we served meals from Hatteras Village to Kitty Hawk, Nags Head to Manns Harbor, Stumpy Point, Colington, Manteo, and Kill Devil Hills,” stated DSC in a Tuesday press release
During the mandated school closure and corresponding remote learning program, the School Nutrition Department will serve breakfast and lunch to all children that live in Dare County, ages 0-18. These meals are at no cost, and will be available for as long as North Carolina schools are closed due to the Governor’s Executive Order.
There are a total of 14 pick-up locations in Dare County, which includes five locations on Hatteras Island.
Children that want a meal can come to any of the pick-up locations listed below and receive a meal at no cost.
Meal Schedule
Meals will be served Monday through Friday starting on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
Breakfast will be available from 7:45 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.
Lunch will be available from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 a.m.
