UPDATE: Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry service has resumed as of 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27

The Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry operations have been suspended due to low visibility from heavy fog as of Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m., per an update from the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division.

Ferry service will resume once weather conditions improve. According to the National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City office, areas of fog across Eastern North Carolina are expected to lift by mid-to-late morning as clouds build in and shower chances increase.

To get notified of ferry delays or cancellations, sign up for text and email alerts via the N.C. Ferry System’s new-in-2023 FINS system: www.ncdot.gov/fins. Users will get notified of any schedule changes directly from the terminal, and can unsubscribe at any time.

The public can also see updates on all three Ocracoke Island routes via the Ferry Division’s Twitter accounts at https://twitter.com/NCFerryHatteras/ and https://twitter.com/ncferrypamsound/, or by calling 252-996-6000 for more information.
