Heat Advisory in effect for Friday, August 2

Excessive heat is expected to continue on Friday along the Outer Banks and throughout Eastern North Carolina, per an update from the National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City office.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for all of Eastern N.C., including Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands, for heat index values of 100-110 degrees from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Actual temperatures will be in the 80-90 degree range.

The intense heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Information on the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke is listed below.
