2:30 P.M. UPDATE: All Ocracoke Island ferry operations have resumed normal operations

All Ocracoke Island ferry operations have been suspended due to dense fog and limited visibility as of Tuesday morning, January 16, per an update from the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division. This includes all three Ocracoke Island ferry routes: Hatteras-Ocracoke, Ocracoke-Swan Quarter, and Ocracoke-Cedar Island.

Ferry service will resume once weather conditions and visibility improve.

To get notified of ferry delays or cancellations, (including when service resumes), sign up for text and email alerts via the N.C. Ferry System’s FINS system: www.ncdot.gov/fins. Users will get notified of any schedule changes directly from the terminal, and can unsubscribe at any time.

The public can also see updates on all three Ocracoke Island routes via the Ferry Division’s social media accounts at https://twitter.com/NCFerryHatteras/ and https://twitter.com/ncferrypamsound/, or by calling 1-800-293-3779 for Ocracoke-mainland ferry reservation information.
