Based on the information from the National Weather Service webinar at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, Hurricane Idalia remains on the same path to pass south of Cape Hatteras. It appears the storm will slow after moving off the coast.

Rainfall estimates have increased. Ocean overwash estimates have increased from 1-3 feet.

As a result of a high pressure system to our north, wind speeds in the 50 mph range could continue into Saturday. The current estimates potentially have us feeling the effects of the storm as early as Wednesday night.

As a result, Thursday will be a Remote Learning Day in all of Dare County Schools. Friday will be an Optional Workday, not a student day. Students and staff will receive further instructions from their school tomorrow.
