Severe weather is possible sometime on Saturday as the remnants of Laura move east towards North Carolina, per a Thursday afternoon update from the National Weather Service Newport / Morehead City office.

After making landfall overnight in Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane with 150 mph winds, Laura has been downgraded to a tropical storm as of Thursday afternoon, as the center moves north towards Arkansas.

Laura will continue this eastward trajectory, and a severe weather threat may develop on Saturday afternoon or evening, with the primary hazards being damaging winds and possible tornados. Laura will move away from the Eastern Seaboard and out to sea sometime on Saturday night.
