Storm Debris Removal Complete in Avon and Tri-Villages; Final Pass Planned for Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras on Nov. 1

Storm debris removal has been completed in all areas of unincorporated Dare County except for the villages of Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras.

Completed areas include Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Colington Harbour, Martin’s Point, Wanchese, unincorporated areas of Roanoke Island outside of Manteo town limits, East Lake, Manns Harbor and Stumpy Point.

In an effort to provide additional service to those residents and property owners who received the greatest impacts from Hurricane Dorian, one final pass for storm debris removal will occur Friday, November 1 in the villages of Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.

Debris should be placed out by 6 a.m. on November 1 in 4 SEPARATE PILES in front of your property, in the right-of-way. Keep it at least 30 feet away from fire hydrants.

  • Vegetative Debris (limbs, leaves, branches, sea grass, etc.) DO NOT BAG!
  • Construction and Demolition Materials (building materials, insulation, cardboard, concrete, shingles, etc.)
  • Metal (appliances)
  • Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics (oil, bleach toilet cleaner, televisions, computers, etc.)

No additional storm debris will be picked up following the final pass through the villages of Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras on Friday, November 1.
