Unidentified Body found along Pamlico Sound off the Dare County Mainland

This statement concerning a body discovered on Dec. 28 has been released by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.
“Today, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a duck hunter discovered a deceased person on the shore line between Manns Harbor and Stumpy Point near Point Peter Road.  The Dare County Sheriff’s Department, NC Wildlife Law Enforcement, Dare County Medical Examiners, and Stumpy Point Volunteer Fire Department worked together to recover the body. A positive identification was not achieved at the scene. The body is being moved to the NC Medical Examiner’s Office in Greenville for an autopsy and identification.”
