NCBBA needs judges for red drum tourney

The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association badly needs judges for its ninth annual Red Drum Tournament on Oct. 22-25.

If you are interested in being a judge, you will be compensated for your time with a free entry into the tournament for the times when you are not judging. Your fee will be refunded during registration on Oct. 22.

Each judge works a six-hour shift at least twice during the three-day event. Each judge will be assigned a ramp to work and will need a four-wheel drive vehicle to be able to cover a 3- or 4-mile area between the ramps. Depending on the draw, some judges are scheduled to do an additional four-hour shift Saturday afternoon.

At least 36 people are needed for these positions. As of Sept. 29, NCBBA had only 18 judges registered.

"Without 18 more people willing to volunteer for these positions this tournament will suffer," NCBBA says. "For the first time in the tournament’s history, the areas available for fishing will have to be reduced. No one wants this to happen! This is your association and your tournament, please help!
