New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and residents and visitors will find that there are a number of options when it comes to celebrating on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands with style.
Islanders who want to start 2019 with a bang can check out the following events, which are all being held on New Year’s Eve along the southern Outer Banks.
New Years Eve 2018 Events on Hatteras Island
Turner’s High Moon Bar
Turner’s High Moon Bar will be having an all-you-can eat buffet starting at 7 p.m., with local steamed shrimp, Oysters Rockefeller, bar tapas, sandwiches, finger foods, and dips. Every ticket is also valid for a complimentary glass of champagne. Then from 10 p.m. until last call, patrons can dance the night away to reggae music, provided by the band Strange Rootz. Turner’s is located in Avon, on the corner of Avon Village.
Pangea Tavern
Early birds can head to Pangea Tavern for their annual Old Farts’ New Years Eve Celebration. Pangea will open at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 31, for those who would like to dine on New Year’s Eve. There will be a complimentary champagne toast and anchor drop at 10 p.m., (instead of the traditional midnight), to celebrate the arrival of 2019. Pangea is located in Avon, next to the Avon Pier.
Lighthouse Sports Bar
The Lighthouse Sports Bar will be hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration with live music by The Stokes. There will be plenty of champagne and drinks, plenty of funny hats, and the music and fun continues until 2 p.m. The Lighthouse Sports Bar is located in the heart of Buxton, and will be open starting at 11 a.m. on New Year’s Eve.
Café Pamlico
Café Pamlico at the Inn on Pamlico Sound will be offering a five course New Year’s Eve dinner with optional wine pairings and sparkling cocktails starting at 5 p.m. Live music will be provided by Rory Kelleher, and reservations are required. The cost is $75 per person, and Café Pamlico is located in southern Buxton on the Pamlico Sound. For dinner reservations, call 252-995-7030.
Events on Ocracoke Island
Ocracoke Bar & Grille: Trevor, Marty & friends will be playing from 9 p.m. until midnight. A Taco Eating contest will also be held at 10 p.m., along with a Wing Eating contest at 10:45 p.m., and a Crazy Hat contest at 11:50 p.m. There will be a $50 gift certificate prize for the taco contest; $50 cash prize or wings, and $100 cash prize for hats.
Ocracoke Oyster Company: New Year’s Eve Party with live music provided by the Ocracoke Rockers. Festivities start at 8:30 p.m.
Gaffer’s: Live music provided by the Emma’s Lounge Band. Festivities start at 8:00 p.m.
