Saturday’s Annual Oyster Roast Celebration Will be Featured Live on the Island Free Press
Tickets for the annual Hatteras Island Oyster Roast have been sold out since mid-January, but island fans can virtually join in the fun with a live Saturday afternoon broadcast on the Island Free Press.
The annual celebration of local seafood is a highlight of the winter season on Hatteras Island, and the fundraising event attracts hundreds of locals and visitors to Oden’s Dock in Hatteras village every year.
On Saturday, February 1, from 1-4 p.m., attendees are treated to bushels of fresh oysters and other refreshments in a standing-room-only outdoor setting along the Hatteras village waterfront. Live music will be provided by Blurky’s Quirky Friends, and the popular event also features a silent auction and ample information on the North Carolina Coastal Federation’s (NCCF) oyster restoration efforts.
The NCCF hosts the annual oyster roast, which is billed as an event that celebrates local seafood and a healthy coast while supporting environmental restoration. Proceeds from the event benefits the NCCF’s oyster education and restoration programs, and participation from multiple community members and businesses boost the annual feast even more.
The Island Free Press will highlight all the activity on Saturday afternoon for folks who can’t attend the old-fashioned oyster roast in person.
