MANTEO — Margaret Estelle Knight Midgett, 79, of Manteo, NC died Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.
A native of Dare County, she was born on April 3, 1940, and raised in Stumpy Point. Mrs. Midgett was the daughter of the late Edna Wise Knight and William Knight.
Estelle, as she was most well-known, was a humble, generous, gentle, loving, and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She could have not been a more loving mother or grandmother. Estelle touched many lives in a variety of ways and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, she often volunteered at the Roanoke Island Food Pantry.
Estelle is survived by her husband of 59 years, Paul Midgett; two daughters, Cheryl Midgett and Paula Midgett (Al); two grandchildren, Morgan and CJ Midgett; brother, William “Billy Boy” Knight (Alma); and several nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Carolyn Gray, Molly Santoro, and Ann Trawick.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Seals officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service.
