KILL DEVIL HILLS — The world lost a beautiful soul on the morning of Thursday, April 9, 2020. After fighting a long and courageous battle with an illness, Robert E. “Bob” Parker, Jr. is finally at rest. He quietly slipped away from us during his last prayer.
He will be missed beyond all measure. Bob was a good man who worked hard, loved deeply and was passionate about the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman all his life, he loved being able to share that with others, especially kids.
The outdoors was his cathedral. Along with Liberty Christian Fellowship where he attended for 19 years and was a member of the security team, always watching so the rest of us could worship in peace.
A veteran of the United States Army, he spent 4 years serving his country as a tanker and Sergeant. He was a general contractor on the Outer Banks for many years and will be missed by all the many friends he made along the way.
More than anything, he was a bass fisherman. He absolutely loved the sport and was a member of the Outer Banks Bassmasters for more years than one can count.
Bob leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Rhonda Tillett; his parents, Robert Parker, Sr. and Lillian Stogner; siblings, Patricia and J.D. Adams; his son and stepchildren, Kindred Parker, Jason Chrismon, and Sascha Watkins; and grandchildren, “Busby” Parker, Caitlin Paul, Noah Leonard, and Savannah and Belle Watkins.
Those of us who knew him best will deal with the sadness of his passing for a long time to come, yet we are extremely grateful for the blessing of having him in our lives for as long as we did.
Bob was a good man and this world will be a much emptier place without him. There are sometimes people who leave this world a little better for having been here, and he was surely one of them.
A memorial service will be held in the future.
Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
