NCBBA’s 9th Annual Red Drum Tournament Final Results
The NCBBA’s 9th annual Red Drum Fishing Tournament wrapped up on Saturday, October 28, after a nice run of great weather and exceptional fishing.
There were 263 participants in this year’s tournament, (which included 36 participant judges), who were angling for more than $8,500.00 in cash and prizes.
Participants included two junior anglers (under the age of 16), 23 female anglers, (four of which were seniors over the age of 65), and 63 senior male anglers. The participants hailed from 14 different states, and Allan Maly from Dallas, TX, once again secured the title of traveling from the longest distance.
Anglers began fishing at Midnight on Thursday, October 25, and fishing continued until noon on Saturday, October 28.
Frank & Fran’s in Avon – with owners Stephanie & Randy Ryals and Heather & Tim James – were once again the Tournament Headquarters.
The 10th and last session ended at Noon on Saturday with a flurry of fishing activity to end this year’s Red Drum Tournament.
After three days and 10 six-hour sessions of fishing, there were 120 Red Drum caught, which included 20 that were over 40.00 inches.
Two Yearlings (30-39 inches) and 99 Puppy Drum were also measured, and all were released alive.
