MANTEO — Laurie Ann Perry, 57, of Manteo, NC crossed over to her eternal home on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. She was born on March 19, 1963, graduated from Manteo High School and attended classes at Brevard College. She completed her CNA 2 certification from COA. Her most treasured position was teaching at Wanchese Christian Academy.
Laurie will best be remembered for her love of animals, adventure, and travel. She was talented and creative in many ways. She loved “road trips” to historical sites and if it wasn’t interesting enough to entertain her traveling companions, she was able to make up her own version and embellish the original facts so that it was entertaining for all.
Her pride and joy were her son, Shane Perry, and his family; wife, Danielle, and children; Kaley, Jackson, Ollie, and the twins, Willow and Stella. She is also survived by her parents, Lillie Rowland, mother, Jimmy Basnight, father; stepparents, John Rowland and Hazel Basnight; siblings, Jamie Hatchell, Misty Curles, Michael Basnight, Abby Basnight, Tom Basnight, and Zack Basnight. In addition, she had numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will celebrate her life privately at a later date.
