Per a recent update from the Cape Hatteras National Seashore (CHNS), the Cape Point and Frisco campgrounds will open for the 2021 camping season on Friday, April 2nd. They will remain open until Monday, November 29, 2021.

Reservations and campsite payments can only be made online at www.recreation.gov. Oregon Inlet and Ocracoke campgrounds are currently open, and will remain open all year round.

CHNS also announced that due to the increase in visitation this off season, the Whalebone Welcome Center will be open every Friday and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until their normal operating hours resume on March 1st. The Whalebone Welcome Center is a Seashore building operated by the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, and the center provides information on attractions, events, and directions.
