MANTEO — On Sunday, March 21, 2021, Ben Wall, loving husband and father, lost his long battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord at the age of 72, at home surrounded by his wife and loving family. Ben was born July 27, 1948 at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He was the son of the late Anna Siefferman and Benjamin Wall and stepfather Lester Siefferman.
He served as a Vietnam Veteran from 1965 to 1968 with the 101st Airborne Division. He was a long-distance truck driver for 43 years, hauling seafood out of Wanchese for many of those years. His passion was restoring old cars and was an ASE Certified mechanic and state inspector. Ben was also a volunteer at the Colington Fire Department for several years. In his last years he enjoyed mowing yards around his home to help out the neighbors. He always had many long stories to tell, when you sat down with him for a chat, about everything from his adventures during his trucking days to car repairs. He was a lover of all animals, especially his beloved dog “Jack”.
Ben is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen of Manteo; son, Troy Wall (Linda) of Jarvisburg; sisters, Barbara Gehrke (Jim) of Illinois, Anita Thompson (Guy) of Illinois, and Vicki Haynes (Paul) of Norfolk, VA; and brother, Blair Siefferman (Marion) of Kill Devil Hills, He is also survived by two grandchildren, Michael and Bethany Siefferman, and many nieces and nephews.
