Airplane flips over onto roof after landing at Ocracoke Island Airport

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, a single-engine airplane flipped over onto its roof shortly after landing at Cape Hatteras National Seashore’s Ocracoke Island Airport (W95).

Per the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the airplane came to rest in the grass near the north end of the runway. The Hyde County Sheriff’s Office and Hyde County Emergency Medical Services responded to the accident.

The pilot of the airplane and passenger did not require transport to the hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified of the incident, and the Island Free Press will post additional details as they become available.
