The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a Property Tax phone scam in our area. Callers are told that the IBRON agency is collecting overdue back taxes on property. They are prompted to call (at the time) the number (614) 304-9536.
Once the number is called, a series of questions involving social security, bank numbers etc. are asked. Please do NOT ever call any number, answer any questions regarding your property taxes except a certified number, located on the county website.
