SOUTHERN SHORES — Michael Steven Watson, 71, of Southern Shores, NC died Sunday, February 27, 2022, at his home.
Born in Knox County, TN on May 24, 1950, he was the son of the late Bernice Louise Patterson and John H. Watson.
Having served his country honorably during the Vietnam era, Steve was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee. After 32 years of service, Michael retired from AT&T as a network engineer.
Steve liked scuba diving, white-water rafting and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed traveling and his favorite destinations include Budapest, New Zealand and the Caribbean.
Steve is survived by his wife, Laura Melissa Walker; a sister, Connie Sue Watson of Knoxville, TN; and a brother, Jeffrey Watson of New Market, TN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Gail Gilbert.
