OCRAOKE — Maude Ellen Garrish Ballance, 90, of Ocracoke, NC, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at her home. She was the oldest child of Uriah Garrish and Maude T. Garrish.
Maude is survived by her daughter, Judy Lawson, and husband, Mike; grandsons, Michael Brandon Lawson and Marcus Andrew Lawson; a sister, Chloe A. O’Neal; and brother, Robert C. Garrish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Maurice Ballance, and two sisters, Helen Brittina Helpenstill and Rena Grace Gaskill.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the family cemetery on Marks Path, Ocracoke, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department (PO Box 332, Ocracoke, NC 27960).
