SOUTHERN SHORES — Nancy Deaton Bryant, 91, of Southern Shores, NC, passed away on September 18, 2023.
Nancy was born January 14, 1932, in Richmond, Virginia, and grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. She spent her adult life in Virginia, mostly in the Northern Virginia area. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Julian F. Frank. She is survived by her children, Deborah F. Alt (Richard) (Southport, NC), Paul J. Frank (June) (Ackinson, NC), and Jennie L. Collins (Southern Shores, NC), grandchildren Rachel A. Djuric, Kathryn J. Manfredonio, and Dustin J. Collins; as well as great-grandchildren Zorica and Nikola Djuric, and Kadyn Manfredonio.
During her lifetime, she worked many jobs. She was a long-distance phone operator for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company (C & P) during the time one had to call the operator to place long distance calls, and a telephone operator would manually make the connections on a switchboard. She also worked with several companies in their accounting department.
A central tenant in her life was her faith and attending church. No matter where she may have moved, finding a church where she could worship was a priority. She spent many hours volunteering for her church’s thrift store, attending bible study classes, and generally enjoying fellowship with other church members.
Nancy carried her love of family and the many wonderful friends along her path of life. She could be quick witted and enjoyed poking fun at others. She was adored by many and she would flash a smile and a quick giggle to brighten the days of others. She will be missed very much by her family and friends.
Her children will have a memorial/celebration of her life on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at the Duck Methodist Church (1214 Duck Rd, Duck, NC 27949) and she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Julian, at a later date in Falls Church, VA. The family appreciates the warm and caring assistance of Spring Arbor of the Outer Banks (Assisted Living) and the Albemarle Home Care and Hospice agency.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Nancy, to the Duck Church.
