KILL DEVIL HILLS — Wayne Franklin Ford, age 67, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Born on July 8, 1957, in Hagerstown, Maryland, Wayne lived a life filled with love for family, nature, and community.
Wayne’s professional journey included roles as a truck driver for DL George & Sons in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and as a security guard for Centurion Security Services at Martins Point in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. His dedication and work ethic were evident in every aspect of his career.
Beyond his professional life, Wayne had a deep passion for shelling, often enjoying trips to Shell Camp in Florida. He was an enthusiastic member of the North Carolina Shell Club and the Sports Car Club of America, where he shared his interests with like-minded individuals.
Wayne’s greatest joy came from his family, particularly his beloved granddaughters. His warmth and love for them were a testament to his generous spirit and kind heart.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Catherine Varner Ford. Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Sue Bennett Ford; his loving daughter, Sarah Kathryn Worstell, and her husband Christian of Apex, NC; cherished granddaughters, Claire Mae and Caroline Marie Worstell; father, Alvey Franklin Ford; sister, Debbie Ford; brothers, James and David Ford; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will celebrate Wayne’s life at a later date, honoring his memory and the joy he brought into their lives. Wayne Franklin Ford will be remembered for his kindness, passion, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones.
