Dare County announces Martin Luther King Jr. Day closures and schedule changes
All Dare County offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Therefore, the Dare County C&D Landfill, the Buxton Transfer Station and the Manteo Recycle Yard will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025. These sites will reopen on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Dare County Public Works, which provides trash collection for the unincorporated areas of Dare County and the Town of Kitty Hawk, has announced a revised collection schedule for residential and commercial trash collection in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Residential trash collection for the week of Monday, January 20, 2025, through Friday, January, 24, 2025, will be as follows:
- Monday, January 20, 2025: Closed – No trash collection.
- Tuesday, January 21, 2025: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.
- Wednesday, January 22, 2025: Manteo, Wanchese, Skyco, Manns Harbor, Mashoes, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon.
- Thursday, January 23, 2025: Kitty Hawk, Colington, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.
- Friday, January 24, 2025: Manteo, Wanchese, Skyco, Manns Harbor, Mashoes, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon.
Commercial trash collection will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and Friday, January 24, 2025.
