WANCHESE — Charles Forrest Brodie, Jr. ascended to heaven on January 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at his home. He was born on June 8, 1942, in Roanoke, VA.
His love of trains and building race cars quickly developed into a profession in the automotive parts industry. He began his career in Chesapeake, VA. In the 1960s, he met the love of his life, Darlene Daniels. Soon after, they moved home to Wanchese, where he quickly became a local legend in auto parts.
His knowledge and expertise assisted so many in the community. Every customer was truly considered a friend. When he wasn’t working, he was a father, always present and nurturing each of his children’s various skills, ensuring they had every necessity but, most importantly, love.
He was preceded in death and is now reunited with his parents, Charles Forest Brodie, Sr. and Lilith Mae Brodie, and his first-born, Charles Forest Brodie III (Chuck). He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Darlene Brodie, son Michael Brodie (Lori), “His Girls,” daughter and granddaughter Amanda and Scout Schillings, grandchildren Whitney, Daniel, Josh, Emmie, and Natalie (Boo Boo), and four great-grandchildren, Keyonna, Austin, Chloe, and Wyatt.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Twiford Colony Chapel with Pastor Kenny Midgett officiating.
