Hyde County facilities will remain closed on Thursday, Jan. 23
Hyde County released the following announcement regarding countywide closures on Wednesday evening, Jan. 23
Hyde County offices and all solid waste convenience sites will be closed on Thursday, January 22, 2025. The Hyde County Airport is closed until Friday at 11:00 am.
Hyde County is under a Winter Weather Advisory for black ice and patchy freezing drizzle tonight until 10 am Thursday. Any snow that melts this afternoon will quickly refreeze after sunset, and lead to treacherous black ice on roads and bridges. The best chance for some patchy freezing drizzle is east of Highway 17 overnight.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for all of Eastern NC until 10 a.m. Thursday. Minimum ‘Feels Like’ temperatures will range from the single digits to the teens tonight into Thursday morning.
Traveling in these conditions will be extremely unsafe! Remember that bridges freeze before roads do!! Stay home unless it’s absolutely necessary!
