On April 24, 2020, at approximately 7:38 pm, a Dare County Sheriff’s Office Deputy with the B-District working the Manns Harbor Checkpoint stopped a vehicle coming into Dare County. Just prior to the vehicle arriving at the checkpoint the Deputy observed the vehicle stop in the road and a passenger change seats with the driver. When the vehicle arrived at the checkpoint it was asked to pull over so the Deputy could find out why they were switching seats. While the Deputy was checking into the occupants driver’s license status a Nags Head Police Department K-9 unit arrived to assist. The K-9 alerted to the presence of controlled substances within the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and numerous drugs were located and seized. Tammy Peaks Mills, F/49, 400 Block East Simmons Ave, Williamston, NC, was arrested for (F) Possession of Sch II Controlled Substance, (F) PWIMSD Sch IV Controlled Substance, 4 X (M) Possession of Sch II Controlled Substance, (M) Possession of Sch III and IV Controlled Substances, (M) Possession of Marijuana. Mills was released on a $11,000 secured bond. Kaye Bonds Rogerson, F/50, 4900 Block Hwy 17, Williamston, NC, was arrested and charged with (M) Possession of Sch II, IV, and V Controlled Substances and (M) Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia. Rogerson was released on a $5,500 secured bond. A third passenger was given a citation for Transporting Unsealed Liquor in the Passenger Area of a Motor Vehicle and turned around at the checkpoint.
